A little more about me...
If one were to describe me, they might have a hard time pinpointing exactly what it is I like to do… because the answer is close to everything. I have an insatiable appetite for everything news related. I also however am an artist, former division one athlete, surfer, skateboarder, music obsessive, nature enthusiast, writer, traveler, film fanatic, photographer and a journalist — the somewhat relevant part which probably brought you here today. Born in Scotland, I moved to the United States when I was five. I’ve always grown up in a multinational household and this has shaped a large part of who I am today.
I graduated this past December from CNN Academy at University College Dublin, armed with a masters in Journalism and International Affairs after completing my undergraduate degree at Boston University in International Relations. I now, through journalism, hope to achieve my life goal of doing work that I am truly proud of — making the World a brighter and better understood place.
My time at CNN Academy…
At CNN Academy in Dublin, I had the opportunity to learn from senior journalists throughout CNN International and beyond. I learned how to create digital news stories, broadcast level packages, use limited resources as a mobile journalist, and many more invaluable skills. I produced a series of published works including my multimedia immersive thesis on “Women in Cold Water Surfing” and a podcast on how journalists from CNN, the Guardian and other top news outlets covered the Iran Women’s protests.
I also had the opportunity to participate in a week-long simulated breaking news story in Abu Dhabi with other CNN Academy students and journalists from around the World. Broken up into teams, we were deployed to cover a fictional breaking news story, investigating, gathering material, and creating a dynamic news package which was submitted for review by a panel of veteran CNN journalists including Becky Anderson. The skills I learned from my post-graduate degree with CNN are truly unmatched by other graduate programs.

I have been a surfer for the past 12 years. I have been an athlete for even longer. Sport has taught me endlessly in how to be resilient, hard working, and self-motivated.
